Hopscotch Hires: October

With thousands of women as part of our community, it can be tough to pick just one to feature as our Star Candidate on a monthly basis.  We work with professional women at all stages of their career and with all backgrounds, and this month's Star Candidate has a twisting tale of travels, study and creativity to share.

This month's Hopscotch Hire is Carla Z, whose background in Marketing and Content look sure to play a part in a bright future:

Hello, my name is Carla and my career path is not the most traditional!

After a Masters degree in Economics from Beirut, I started working in Marketing at one of Lebanon’s top banks, and I loved it. I was creating, developing and launching new products retail and corporate products, and could express my creative side while using my marketing and communication skills.

I had a promising career within the bank, however, I really craved some international exposure and experience, particularly in my favorite city, Paris.  So, eight years later, I took a loan, quit my job, and moved to the city of lights to pursue an MBA specialized in Marketing and Advertising.

After this beautiful and enriching journey I found myself, again, in the banking sector, working for one of the world’s biggest private banks.  But I was a changed person, and wanted to venture into entrepreneurship and challenge myself and my professional life. So, I started a small women's fashion and accessories e-shop. And somewhere between buying trips, activation events and social media management, I established myself a as a freelance content creator and marketing strategist after a lot of encouragement from my entourage who saw me doing it for free, just because I was passionate about it.

A year ago, I got married and moved to Dubai to be with my husband – tough choice for a destination, right?  I am happily established here, surrounded by new and old friends, and as much as I enjoy the beach, cafes and dynamism of this city, I truly miss having a job that allows a good and healthy work-life balance.

I am looking for a smart and dynamic workplace where my diverse experience, love for challenges and ability to learn and adapt, will be appreciated and continuously challenged so that the experience is beneficial for both my employer and myself.
